WHO WE ARE
Created in 2018 in response to a growing awareness of the consistent pattern seen in emerging economies wherein economic growth is tied to environmental destruction, The Bibevski Foundation invests in projects and ideas that aim to break this pattern. Economic development of a nation, region, city or society doesn’t have to associated with the typical destruction of the natural environment, disregard of the native flora and fauna, and breakdown of the essence of societal fabric. By cultivating a micro-community that can be used as a model which is then applied to larger regions, we hope to demonstrate that the typical mistakes made during rapid economic growth can be avoided. Our model is the idyllic Prespa-Pelagonia region of Macedonia, but the concept is applicable worldwide.
WHAT WE DO
We create and fund innovative and collaborative solutions for urgent social challenges in the Prespa-Pelagonia region of Macedonia. The overall goal is to create an idyllic and utopian region to live in that is environmentally integrated and sustainable. We promote organic farm to table food supply, preservation of the natural environment, the highest levels of respect for native and domestic animals that live in the region, and support economical growth of the community with a heavy emphasis on maintaining the health of the environment within which the economy is being developed.
WHY WE DO IT
The economic growth of regions has inevitably been tied to destruction of the environment, disrespect of wildlife that has traditionally thrived there, and slow degradation of the very way of life of humans that has lead to an increase in diseases such as cardiovascular, mental and autoimmune disorders. We believe there is a way to grow communities and economies on a local scale and integrate those economies with other similar models that together create a complex web that can economically sustain a larger region. Basically, we want to create a region that we ourselves would want to live in.
OUR MANTRA
We believe the world needs a more fearless approach to social change and we need to aim for the “ideal dream”, so we take risks on new ideas and approaches, and partner across sectors with people and organizations that share our fervor to engage citizens and governments to change the world for the better. We don’t limit ourselves to any one sector or issue, but instead let a set of core values drive all of our ventures with the focus on creating a city, or a society that can interact with the environment and the local animals in a respectful and sustainable way.
